A bunker with emplacements for two heavy caliber guns, constructed during the war and later destroyed by the Germans and rebuilt by the Communists after the war, is located on Firule near Split. Entry to the bunker is accomplished through the laundry room of a hillside villa located about twenty;-five meters from the bunker. Underground stairs and a tunnel connect with the bunker itself, The two gun apertures in the bunker are two meters above sea level, one facing north and the other southwest to- ward Ciovo Island. The two heavy guns of unspecified caliber have a crew of ten men Who have been on duty since August 1950 and who are housed in a small building nearby, 2, Another bunker, also originally constructed by the Germans during the wart? is located above Cape Sustjepan (Sveti Stjepan) next to the Labud (The Swan) Sailing Club and in one corner of the club grounds. The bunker has only one aperture facing the port's lighthouse, and its heavy gun of un- specified caliber is reported to be of German origin.
