THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
On 15 March there were 30 unidentified planes in an underground hangar at
Koeryong (129-45s,"42-26) (RB 6298) Airfield. All houses in the vicinity
of the airfield were cleared of residents before 1 imarch to provide
billets for Soviet pilots. A number of these pilots were occupying
houses and barracks near the field. The airfield area is off limits
for all Korean; without special. passes.
w Approxiinately.200 Soviet jets were stationed in camouflaged hangars on
three large underground hangars in the hill west. of the strip but no
planes were observed.. Three Chinese Communist battalions and the Lorth
Korean 27 Field Artillery Brigade are stationed at this field. The
27 Brigade comprises 300 men, equipped with 6 x 15 gun. guns, 8 Soviet
120 am, field guns, 20 x 120-mm. mortars and about 20 vehicles.
In early April the conn;ander of the Chinese Communist 39 Army was

Soldiers of the 39 Army were told in a lecture before the end of Larch
'that the array had 50 tanks, 200 automatic machine guns, 400 car-drawn
artillery pieces, 500 automatic short rifles. The 116 Division of the
39 Army had. 90 cart-drawn' morrtars, 90 x 82 mm. mortars, 110 car-drawn
field guns, 120 light machine guns. The 3118 Regiment of the 116
Division had-36 cart-drawn-mortars., 72 machine runs, 36 trench mortars,
and rifles for each man. The 3 Battalion of the 348 Regiment had
2 machine guns? 12 trench mortars., and 20 x 82-'mm. n ortars.
