THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1, All. Bulgarian vessels operating on the Danube are controlled by the 25X1
Bulgarian Danube River Navigation Authority (Bulgarsko Rechno Plavane)
2., Cement and pyrites (chiefly iron) are shipped by barge from Svishtov and
Ruse to Reni in the USSR. These ships return with iron and steel rods,,
machine parts and truckso Return shipments have decreased gradually since
1949; four barges carrying cement to Reni in January 1951 returned empty
to Ruse. There is no regular schedule for traffic to Rani.. Barges
normally used for transporting sugar beets from Danube villages to Ruse
are routed to Reni whenever a shipment is ready for the USSR,,
. Wheat, corn, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, soy beans, hides, aniseed
and various ores are shipped from Ruse to Bratislava. During 1950, 70
barge loads of wheat, averaging more than 6)0 tons each, were despatched
to Czechoslovakia in Bulgarian and Czechoslovak barges.
Lt. Unidentified ores and cord wood have been shipped from Ruse to Budapest,
Hungary.

An unidentified ore, described as a gray-green sand, has been shipped
from Ruse and Sv.shtov to Vienna. One shipment of this ore, loaded at
Svishtov and routed to Vienna in February 1951, was destined for USIA
