1. Two new 8,000-foot landinC strips are under construction at Harbin. social
construction crews were brought thorn by rail from tiukden The construction
superintendent made the statement, "Theso strips will handle anything up to
100,000 pounds on each whoel." The concrete surface of these strips is 21
inches thick and is laid over a rock base.
2. Two now 8,000-foot landing strips are being; constructed at TTcitsih r by Japanese
POUes under Soviet supervision. This construction was begun on 2 Anril0 Tho
concrete nurface of these strips is 24 inches thick and is laid over a rock
base. There are 2,000 PO!; laborers enE abed in this construction. T oroa are
50,000 tons of aviation Gasoline stored at Tsitsihar, with 20 U. S. 50-caliber
machine guns, brouhit from Korea, mounted by the gasoline storage tanks. On
2 April 3 tank care of aviation gasoline wore sent from 'sitsihar for Ponki*
and on 4 iLpril a second shipment of 10 tank care was scant over the sane route.
3. Two now 8,000-foot lnxdinf; strii-)s are boin; constructed at Ponki, with the same
typo of construction as at Harbin and Tsitsihar.
