Between 21 and 31 Larch 1951, the Artillerie Kasorne on August
Bebelstrasse, Frankfurt/Oder (") 53/v- 63), quartered about 500
troops who wore red-bordered Eeck epaulets with artillery in-
signia. On 22 'larch an officer eld.ressed about 150 soldiers who
were assembled in the barracks -tret.. Truck carrying 50X1-HUM
15 unarmed soldiers entered the i/stallationo About

returned to the instellation: occupied by 5 and.

30 soldiers received rifle drill. Truck left

with rifles and submachine sun, left the installation toward Narkendorf.
On 30 Larch, about 1r'.0 soldiers were drilling with rifles while 10
soldiers nracticed the throwing of stick hand grenades.
The Hindenburg Naserne, at the intersection of August Bebelstresse and
August nichterstresse, was still occupied by 400 troops who wore
red-bordered black epaulets, most of them with tank insignia. Tanks -
No 710 and 718 entered the installation on 23 :arch. Tanks No 713 and
723 left the installation on 24 narch and returned in the afternoon.
The same tanks were seen entering the billetine area on 27 narch from the
direction of WestRreuz, folloncd by truck which carried 15
soldiers.

5. The Nofbauer Kaserne, at the intersection of Dirnbaumsmuchlstrasse and
Schubertstrasse, still quartered about 100 soldiers with red-bordered
black epaulets. No brancheof-service insienia were observed. The. instal-
lation still served as transient billets for officers of all branches of
service. These officernwere transported to and from the installation by
trucks Lbst of the annex. builnins were used as 50X1-HUM
storage .rooms for furniture of the Nech. On 22 :arch, three rail-'nye
rocket launchers were seen through the open door of a garage. A fourth
rocket launcher was being repaired by six soldiers in front of the armory.
Three trucks without motors stood in front of the armory on 27 neerch. No
regular training activity has been observed at the installation for wontbz.
The Horn Kaserne on Nuhnenstrasse still quartered. anout 600 troops who wore
re:!-bordered black epaulets, including a faw with tank insignia. nbout 120
soldiers received drill at squad level in the barracks yard on 22 larch.
Tank No 1907 entered the installation, while tank ;lo 1953 left the instal-
lation on 23 :arch. :JP :run No 1935 left the billeting area on 30 narch.
Aleut 200 soldiers, organized in. groups of various stronetleel

7, The Ziethen naserne on Copernicusstrasse was still occupied by anout 703
troops who wore red-bordered black epaulets, sone with tank and artillery

were practicing the construction of field fortifications in the area
opposite the barracks installations. in)out 20 soldiers practiced with two
76.2-mm artillery pieces near the water tower. Two 37-am aA runs were parked
in the billeting area, while four canvas-covered tanks and a small armored ?
scout car stood in front of the repair shen. On 30 :arch, about 20 soldiers
ware seen practicing with a 76.2-mm artillery piece end an aiming circle in
the area opposite the installation while about 120 soldier assembled for roll
call in the barracks yard. Trucn carrying 15 soldiers who wore 50X1-HUM
red-bordered block coaulets and were ixl with rifles, catered the instal-
lation. Truck was parked in the billeting area. 50X1-HUM
8. No changes wore observed at the Soviet komendantura in the Yellow 2ress
building on Puschkinstrasse. Twelve soldiers wore seen there engaged in
bayonet drill on 24 :arch and about 35 solniers at calisthenics on 30 narch0
notor vehicles were identified at the 50X1-HUM

CommentAncecomponent units of the unidenbified AAA Div,
possi ythe 32d, froM Frankfurt/Oder have been engazed in AA
firing :practice at JueterboL; since February 19514 it is plausible
that the number of troops in the Artillorie kiaserne was loner than
usual. Units of this division nay' have been on a train
observed en route from Frankfurt/Oder to Juoterbog as late as
20 March 1951.
