1. In early April 1951, it was learned that the :.7D troops in the 50X1-HUM
Annaberg (N 51/K 73)--:)e1uarzenber3 area wore subordinate to leneral
?LPL Batter y who was stationed in Chemnitz (N 51/1 66). The
general built a house in Oterniesenthal. :113 C010-101 7JOMOV (fnu)
inspected the troo)s in Annaberc in late :arch c has been stationed
in that area since the end of the war. (1)
2. Troops observed in nnaberc in early 'pril wore red?lordered black
epaulets and red?bordered croon epaulets. About 100 soldiers' 7iaaring
red?bordered black epaulets were seen erv;aged in firing and 'rand
grenade practice on 3) :arch, and about 430 soldiers wearing; red? .
bordered green epaulets were seen marchin to the local motion picture
theater on 31 :7arc, (2)
3. A freight train carrying alout 600 soldiers of undetermined branch of
service, and seven four?wheel armored .reconnaissance cars
passed through Annaberg toward Zwickau on 24 :::arch, Tho troons were
very young and of strikingly small stature,
4. On 4 April, the Soviet office at 1 Herrmannstrasse was still guarded
by sentries who, nore red?bordered ,!:reen epaulets,
Chemnitz.

The unit had 50 to 80 trained dogs. Units of company strength conducted
practice attacks, equipped with heavy machine guns, three medium mortars,
and an undetermined number of heavy mortars.

10. The about 250 troops in the barracks installation on aeilstrasse, Halle
CU 52/J0 92), who proviouely wore red-bordered green epaulets, wore ob-
served to rear black-bordered red epaulets on several days during the
period from 5 to 13 April. Only four trucks were seen in the garages.
The dogs of the unit were kept in a kennel. (6)

11. An VOB office was no longer observed on Eutberg in Kanenz (N 52/A 41).
12. On 8 April, the LOB personnel in Naunburg (15 520 89) arrested several
youths on the grounds of sabotage and espionage.

13. Numerous officers of all branches of service and a few officers nearing
green color patches and cap ribbons wore seen at the Soviet office on
August Bebelstrasse? Riese (Il 52/2 31), on 10 April. (7).

The pacher Kaserne phich has quartered an. IND unit for a long time
is, according to the present report, located on the east side of
liarienallee. It is situated opposite the former Cerman officer candi?
date school and housed part of the school prior to 7orld 74ar II. The
name of the installation was proba'oly derived from the Bucher. Haus
which is located in the bill :ting urea of zhe so?called Bucher Kaserne.
Since the same installation has bean also referred to as Koenig?
Friedrich,-August Kaserne, it is believed that the U.VD unite mentioned
in the present report as being quartered in the Bucher Kaserne and the ,
Koenig?Friedrich?August Kaserne are identical. The barracks installation
on Koenigsbrueckerstrasse, which is called Easchinengemehr Kaserne.. has
also been referred to as Bucher Kaserne
