1. An armament factory in Tanvald (051/G36) was developed by the Germans during
World War II for the production of parts for V-1 and V-2 rockets. After the
war It was rebuilt and taken over by the I .ilitzry Technical Institute for
research. When the plant was last observed in I?tay 10,50 only Soviet military
officers were seen; there were no longer any Czech military officers stationed
at the plant. A total of from 50 to 60 Soviet officers between ' 1, 500 and -qnd 2,000 Soviet and Czech workers, mainly demobilized Soviet soldiers, were
employed at the plant in May 1950. Work is done. in three shifts.
2. The factory produces 22-ton armored ammunition tractors, at a rate of one per
week, contact anti-tank r ines at a rate of. about 500 per month, electric anti-
tank mines at a rate of about 500 per month, anti personnel nines, machine gun
barrels at a rate of about 25 per day, parts for bazookas, mortar sli.olls, small
arms ammunition, and gas masks. It also assembles the light tanks, not including
engines or armament, at a rate of about 25 pieces per week. It is believed that
the Soviet Union is the main customer for the production of this plant and that
deliveries :re made by rail through Cierna nad Tisou.
