1. Recently each 111age in the Wenchou and Linhat (121..O7, 29-53) areas was
required by the Ghineee Gorwmiste to conscript from 10 to 20 physica .ly fit
young men for service in Korea. In early June, LOW of these recruits were
receiving military training in the Tientai (121.02, 29-10) area and were
soon to be sent to Korea.
Chinese Co, ist authorities in Wenchou were forcing the residents to hold
large Resist America and Aid. Korea demonstrations three times weekly.
Headquarters of the 103 Division was at Wenchon. In early X w ' the 103
Division was reorganized from the heten militia in the Wcnohoub area and
from the Wenchou Garrison Regiment. On I June, the 309 Regiment, 103 Divist a.,
arrived at Huangtaao (121.)6. 27..59). The regiment h 15 motor junks, each
equipped with 2 light machine guns, I bazooka and 11 rifles.
4. A11 the militia units of the Chekiang 5 and 6 Military District Commands were
organized into Independent battalions.
5. On 4 June,a a battalion of the 1302 Division, and 100 militia troops, in ;2 motor
junks and 10 small, ordinary Junks, occupied Chikuanshan ) Island off
the Chekiang coast and took large amounts of rice and fir ood. there. They

artillery pieces and two heavy machine guns. There were 700 Chinese Communist
troops on Chikuanshan and Teaaghsu Islands, all of whom were new recruits and
poorly equipped.
6. On 4 June, a motor vessel of the Nationalist C raerrilla 27 Calumt engaged
undetermined number of Chinese Coa: mist motor Junks In battle in the Ghikuanehan
area. The Chinese Communist vessels were forced to withdraw. A Nationalist

11. A battalion of Chinese Communist troops on Tangheu and Chikuaanshan Islands
was equipped with four motor junks and approximately ten ordinary J1=41M.

29-06)- and Sungmen 1121.39, 29-22). All of these ports were closed t ~ fish-

14. In early June, headquarters of the 6i and 62 Divisions, 21 AM*, were at
Hangchowa
15. Headquarters of an artillery regiment of the 35 Army, was at Ruanryon with
battalions in the Haaisnen (121-25, 20-43)-Linhal area., The regiment had
9 (sic) mountain guns, 2 for regimental headquarters and 2 for each company,
4 mortars and 27x60 mm mortars.
16. Nationalist troops under W`U Shu lin (? , 5r~; , aboard t o Nationalist Naval
vessel W Pal.NG (; , ) attempted to invade FXiknsu (`f D +(- ,) island on 7 June,
but encountered. 4 small Chinese Communist Liberation (six) gunboats near the
island and engaged in battle for an hour. A Chinese Communist vessel was
auni, another was captured, 10 Chinese Communist troops were killed and 37 troops
of the S Company, 3 Battalion, 308 Regiment, 103 Division, were captured.
A platoon leader of the same company was among the men killed.
17. The Nationalist naval vessel TCHG CH IA (4(... 2. ) engaged In battle with the
Chinese Communist gunboats off the Sanpi'aan Islands on 8 June, and a number
of Chinese Communist vessels were domed,
18. On S Josue, a number of troops of the 1014 Division, 35 Army, aboard 3 motor junks
and escorted by 2 small gunboats, left Naimen and attempted to land on.
