1 Battery W Specific location unknown.
2 Battery - Located south of Sveti Juraj Fort In a small house in
the northwestern section of the port of Vis. Commanded
by Lieutenant Ristic, the battery numbers approximately
50 men and is armed T,rith mortars.
3 Battery - Located in the Sveti Juraj Fort itself and commanded by
2nd Lieutenant Peter Filipovic. The battery numbers
approximately 80 men and is armed with four 80 mm. guns
placed in the fort.
4 Battery ?- Also located in Sveti Juraj Fort. Battery officers
include 2nd lieutenant i4irko Rodic, Commander; Standard
Bearer Batistin and a Platoon Chief named hotevski.
Four 66 m. guns were assigned the Battery and placed
in bunkers at 30 meter intervals around the fort.

1? There is a strong (sic) Marine Infantry garrison with component artillery
units located on the Island of Vie but, in addition and under a separate
independent command, there is also a unit of coastal artillery known as
t40-3rd Fortified, Unit. Headquarters for the 3rd Fortified Unit is.
located in a three-story building which is owned by a certain Dr. Bakulic
and adjacent to the power station, The Military Post Number of this
Command is 8822, Command Headquarters also includes a political commissar
(a Major) and certain other unspecified officers and non-commissioned
officers. The Unit is composed of from three to four groups.
2. Command Headquarters for one of the groups of the Unit is ins small villa
located 200 meters above the so-called "Porto Inglese" in the town of Visa
Commanded by Captain Ante Plepel, a native from Sucuracm Headquarters for
the group also includes Captain Peter Grbavac,, a Navy officer and Political
Commissar; the Adjutant (a lieutenant) and a few non-commissioned officers
and soldiers acting as clerks. The group is composed of four batteries

3. The bunkers are round with- ,a diameter of from 3.5 to 4 peters. They extend
2.25 meters underground and their cement walls are 30 centimeters thick.
On the bunker a s side facing; the sea there is a platform of fortified cement
on which the cannon is placed. The barrel of the gun extends over the wall
a .proxir:rately 50 centimeters. From the platform two steps lead down to a
corridor 80 centimeters wide. From this corridor two rooms on either side
of the platform, 1 to 1.50 x 2 meters in dimension, can be reached. All
bunkers are cowected by a zigzag_,- corridor and, in time of war, every bunker
is to be provided with a telephone. No telephones are presently installed.
4. Soldiers are armed *,rith bayonet rifles of Russian origin. 'Tahine rifles are
stamped "FPS". Eight heavy anti-aircraft machine guns are posted aroux>ft the
yeti Juraj Fort and are handled I?nU~ a special unit under direct group conr'and.
Group equipment also includes a signal light, approximately 60 centimeters in
diameter, of German origin. The reflector has its own generator and Diesel
rotor and is located in a bunker approximately 15 meters distant from the fort.
5. The ammunition and armament depot is looted in the Sveti Juraj Fort. Light
guns, some anti-aircraft machine guns, light mortars and a considerable (sic)
quantity of cases of ammunition have been observed in the depot.
