On 9 .April 19 l i.t.. was observed that Soviet officers and
30 to 3 soi i.ers wearin black-bordered black epaulets
were engaged in building a new bridge across the Spree
giver near SL.adow, about r -,.km north of Cottbus. Piles
were being driven in the river. A wooden cabin occupied
by a soldier wear.ng black-bordered black epaulets was
seen at the building site. Source learned that work on
the construction of the bride had been under rvay since
28 March 1.9,51.,
for Soviet engineer units

The brid~e4 c rich is already' available near Skadow 500
Meters south of the reported bridge carries a minor road
connecting "'kadO w and Wilmersdorf. It is possible that the
