THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
In mid June headquarters of Chinese Communist naval. forces in the Chousban Islands
was at the former Nationalist ArrFv drill grounds in the I'uan rin Chiao Q
area, Shar3ghai. A slsroximstesly 15.000 young men, recruited in Xiangsu by the
Chinese Corm-mi i.st Navy, were assisting in the corastriaction of defenses in the
Chousharas. After this work is completed these men are to be trained, as Chinese
Cornea ni.st Marines in the Chonshans area.

4. In mid.-June there were 3,000 Soviets in the Pootung end Hsu Chia Wei districts,
Shanghai. PAost of these were technical advisers to the Chinese Communists. In
'both these districts there are a number of anti-aircraft gin emplacements, all
manned by Soviet troops.
