1. The 149opta National Corporation plant in Prerov* was converted in 1949 to the
production of military optical items such as military field glasses, trench
periscopes, bombsights and gunsights; some civilian production remains. Work
at the plant is done in three shifts. Military production is taken over once
a month by officers of the military garrison in Olomouc. Electric power is
delivered by high power line to a transformer on the grounds of a neighboring
hospital. Production capacity of the plant is as follows:

Equipment in the workshop for the production of cameras and projectors include
the following:
18 lathes: 5 type W, 4 type Volman, 4 Skoda turret lathes, 5 Zbrojovka
universal lathes
2 horizontal and 2 vertical milling machines
6 Podhajsky face grinding machines
3 Xamenicek plain grinding machines
8 bench drill presses
4 column drill presses
1 RCS radial drill press
1 metal saw
1 shaper
The grinding room is equipped with various special tool grinders and a Haag
Sulzer gear generating grinder,, The press room has four special presses for
Bakelite.

Comment: It is probable that this is the former Optikotechna plant,
which has become a subsidiary plant of Meopta National Corporation in Prague.
