THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
a. General NAM Il, Chief of Staff of the North Korean Army., was
Deputy Commander of the North Korean Forward Headquarters under
the late General KIM Ch?aek. In March 1951, KIM Il sang
appointed NAM Il Chief of Staff, replacing KIM Chlang-uan.
b. The North Korean government is trying to make''the people believe
that the cease-fire proposal was originated by the UN forces,
The North Korean broadcast that disclosed that Malik had made the
proposal resulted in the purge of the 1 Section of the Propaganda
Bureaus
c. The Chinese Communist Deputy Minister of Defense, General POENG
Te-huai,l and General HSIA Chung-'hei are in North Korea for the
cease-fire talks,, PIS, commanding general of all Chinese forces
in Korea ,a considered to be in command.
2? The North Korean and Chinese governments have agreed jointly to build an
arsenal at Kanni (? Kani dong,, 125-45., 39?10), the first railroad (? stop)
north of Peyongyan.g. The equipment for the arsenal will be brought from
Manchuria. Until the arsenal is functional., the North Korean troops will
be supplied with weapons made in an arsenal at Mukden, which is turning
out Soviet-type Mosin Natant pistols, PPSHVis, antitank rifles, and 80--mm.
mortars.
3. North Korean and Chinese Communist order of battle
a. The North Korean Army has 9 infantry divisions full strength and
7 security brigades under strength. Five more infantry divisions are
being formed. All these units are a part of a North Korean plan
to have 15 infantry divisions, 1 tank division., 1 air force
division., and 1 cavalry division by October 1951.

b. The security force will consist of 6 provincial brigades and
1 special PAyongyang brigades Each brigade will have
1 motorcycle battalion.
C. The 36, 389 and 42 Divisional of the Chinese Communist 4 Field
Army are north of the It&jin River and will not move north until
the ceasefire talks have been completed.
d. The 69, 783, and 875 North Korean Divisions are moving from
Kaech7on to Kandong. These units will move to Yangdok soon.
All North Korean schools will open on 1 September,
