The following troop movements have been reported: a. In the middle of May 1951, 11 Infantry Regiment, 3 Division, moved from Sliven to an unknown destination. b. In May, 28 Infantry Regiment moved from Burgas to Sredets. c. The 32 infantry Regiment has moved from Burgas to Sredets. d. About 20 April, 33 Infantry Regiment, 5 Division, moved from Svishtav through the Danube and probably stopped at Nikopol. e. The 46 Infantry Regiment has moved from Dobrieh. f. On 11 or 12 Nay one anti-tank battery of four guns, and one heavy mach!ne gun platoon with four machine guns arrived at Svilengrad. 3, On 10 May 1951, 18 Infantry Regiment moved from Valk? Turnovo to Stara Zagora, Where it was inspected by its commander, Colonel Katsunav, and by a Soviet Colonel. The unit was accompanied by 20 new type Soviet tanks. 4. The 10 Division at Kurdzhali was composed of 10, 44 and 47 Infantry Regiments, and 10 Field Artillery Regiment, The 8 Division at Khaakovo had 12, 23, and 30 Infantry Regiments and 10 Field Artillery Regiment. The 28 Infantry Regiment had the following personnel and equipment: a. 1 Battalion 50X1 -HUM (1) 1 Shock Company - This company had 30 men divided into two platoons; each platoon had three squads. The squad leader was armed with a pistol; the gunner was armed with a Degtyarov light machine gun; the gunner v8aids carried three ammunition magazines; one soldier carried a 7.62 in. Vintovka rifle. (2) (3) 2 Shock Company - 38 men. 1 Mechanized Company - This company had 28 men divided into an anti- aircraft platoon of 12 men, a mortar platoon of 18 men, and 15 (sic) mortars, and a machine gun platoon with 9 machine guns. b. 2 Battalion (1) 4 Shock Company - 34 men. (2) 5 Shock Company . 38 men. (3) 2 Mechanized Company - 24 men. This unit had the same organization as the mechanized company of the 1 Battalion. (4) Independent company - 40 men. c. Special Tank Unit (l) Battery accompanying infantry -.18 men. The unit had three Zia artillery guns for practice and three guns in the warehouse. (2) Heavy mortar unit - 20 men. It had three mortars for practice and three in the warehouse. , (3) Anti-aircraft platoon - 18 men. It had two artillery guns for practice and two in reserve. (4) Machine gun platoon. It had three groups, and used Maxim Sokolov machine guns. 6. The 28 Regiment had a company for training non-commissioned officers; this company had two shock platoons, one mortar platoon, and an anti-aircraft platoon. There was also a communications company, which included a tele- phone platoon, a wireless platoon, a wire laying platoon, and a digging platoon, and an administrative company, which had a music platoon of 12 men. 7. For transportation the 28 Regiment had 6 Opel vehicles, two Zis vehicles, one ambulance, one Soviet jeep, horses and 15 carts. 8. The 28 Regiment was formed on 8 May 1950 at Burgas. Until 10 January 1951 the regiment carried out maneuvers at Sredets. In case of war, the unit will reportedly hold positions from Malko Turnovo to Sredets. 9. During 25-27 April 1951 two freighters unloaded artillery and tanks at Varna. Artillery guns were being taken by rail from Varna to Pavlikeni (4149)2). 10. It was rumored that they were going to act as liaison officers for units near the Greek-Bulgarian and Greek-Turkish borders. About 200 Soviets have arrived at the head- quarters of the Second Army at Plovdiv, among them were one general, three colonels and five lieutenant colonels. It was rumored that a camp to receive Soviet troops was being prepared at Obrazteav Chiflik (experimental farm) near Ruse. 12. On 25 Nay 1951 the recruits of the class of 1932 were inducted from the Ruse area.
