The recent order of the SMA shows that the Russians are greatly interested in German designs and that they presumably intend to adapt their freight car repair shops to German prototypes. Such an installation was to be capable of handling a total of 1140 dams ad freight cars daily, including 28 bogie cars. According the SMA ordered the designs because the car repair installations in the USSR were no longer capable of handling the greatly increased traffic on the railroad lines of the Don3ts, the Ural, and Kusnetsk areas. Freight car repair shops were to be established in Kiev, Rostov, iioscow, Chelyabinsk and Novosibirsk.
