The majority of the Soviet combat divisions continued training at regir._ontal
level at or near their troop training areas up to the end of August 1951. The
disposition of divisions regained unchanged as compared to their situation
at the first of 14cust.
It is believed that the rotation of components of the Second Guards N?echanized
Arr7 between their home stations and the Jueterbog-Luekenwalde training rXea
stopped '?fter 15 August.
Reports indicate that the rear details and service units of some of the -training
groups hatre left their home stations and are Joining their parent units in the
training areas. Troops now in training have intensified their weapon and equip-
ment maintenance. This, plus the fact that the ! agdeburg and Erfurt Regional
Railroad Headquarters have been assigned larger numbers of railroad cars for
the transport of troops about 1 September, indicates that large-scale fall
maneuvers may begin in the near future.
