1. During June 1951, Yugoslav economists held an important meeting in Rijeka
for the purpose of discussing the present economic situation in that area.
Present at this meeting were the following officials of the Croat People's
Republic: Anka Berus, I1nister of Finance; Tlarin Cetinic, President of
the Corm!ercial Council and Hilutin Baltic, Minister of labor. Also
attending the economic meeting were all the members of the Rijeka Regional
Coxrniiittee of the Yugoslav Communist Party for the district and city, and
industrial directors of state enterprises from Rijeka, Opatija and other
cities on the Dalmatian coast,

2. The problem discussed at the meeting was the critical economic situation
of the Rijeka area. Several of the industrial directors whose enterprises
are in bad state bitterly criticized the excessive number of directives,
the fiscal policies end the dishonesty of the bureaucrats assigned to the
state economic control bureaus. They accused these individuals of
inflexibility and corruption.
