During June 1951 work started on the reconstruction of fortifications at Tingkung (`, k and Nanshiht 9 ou (j k ), the outskirts of Canton, and on the construction of additional anti-aircraft and heavy artillery emplacements in that area. Approximately JMP 1,600,000,000 was qDpropriated by the ' Kwangtung Military District Command, and approximately 3,000 militia troops were employed in construction work on this project which was completed in late August. 2. From 21 fugust to 5 September 1951, the following military equipment and supplies were sent to Canton from Hankow on the Canton-Hankow railroads a, six 150 mm artillery pieces of Soviet manufacture. b. Twenty-four 100 mm field guns, 4 x 76.2 mm anti-aircraft guns, and 25 mortars, all of Japanese manufacture. ca Three radar sets, 200 marine mines, and 270 tons of rifle and light and heavy machine gun munition, all of Soviet manufacture. 3.
