THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1? Prelint:nary work is being done on a new wharf for the north section of
Klaipeda harbor, The harbor entrance and a channel to the new wharf are being
dredged to a depth of eight meters,, best of the new wharf are located some
old naval repair shops which employ about 1,500 men, No naval vessels
have been observed alongside these shops,
2, Soviet naval vessels are not ordinarily based at Klaipeda, but submarines
have called at the port on occasion. During the latter half of Lay 1`9509
five larger naval vessels anchored outside the harbor entrance for several
weeks, and twventy-ton patrol. boats are stationed in Klaipeda; these vessels
have a top speed of about twenty knots, Signal. work is carried out by radio,
and no radar equipment can be observed on the vessels,;

Fishing (sic), (fnu) Vasilkovo The chief of the fishing harbor is (fnu)

4. On 10-June 1951, fifteen. Soviet and Lithuanian trawlers were ordered from.
Klaipeda to Leningrad for use in moving former German fishing trawlers to
Vladivostok. The trawlers are said to weigh between 200 and 300 tons, and
eighty of them were to be moved in the initial stages of this operation.
It is estimated that four months will be required to complete this movement,
but contracts have been written for three years.
5: Coastal patrols are partially under the Coast Guard of the Baltic Fleet
(Beregovaya Oborona Baltiskogo Flota), but patrolling is also done by blD
coast guard units, The LVL coast guard units wear naval uniforms with black
