1. The Chief of F~dum.tion and Culture in the People r s Republic of Macedonia
was a certain Krsta Cvenkovski, who was also a member of the Central
Committee of the M.cedonian Communist Party.
2. The student body at Skopije University numbered approximately 2,800 persons.
The University of S..op1je comprised the following schools:
a. Medical School, which offered a five-year course.
b. Technical School, ?iith a five-year course. There were two
separate divisions in the Technical School:
1) Building Construction division
2) Architectural division
c. School of Agriculture and Forestry, with a four year course.
d. School of Philosophy;- which offered a four year course.
3? In May 1951 Kiro Milevski was Director of the School of Philosophy. The
student body comprised approximately 500 persons and classes were held
in the prewar #iational Library Building in Skoplje. A building to house
the School of Philosophy w .s under construction at Gasi Baba.
4. Dl.mce Toshev was head of the, Chemistry School in the School of Philosophy.
Tice Chemistry School was housed in the former elementary school on Braca
i'iladirsovic Street in Skoplje. First year students took the following
courses:
a. Chemistry, given by Dimce Toshev
b. Fhysics, taught by Josipposer
c. Mathematics, given by Blagoe Popov
d. Pre..rilitary Instruction, taught by a certain Captain #tijatovic

8. All students at Skoplje University had to join the Studeneki Sojuz
(Student Federation). Dues were 10 dinars per year.

sity dormitory amounted to 200 dinars per month for each student.
Construction of three 4-story dormitories was underway at Gazi Babi. Each
building,, when completed, would be 50 x 10 meters, and the three dormitories
together are planned to house 900 students.
5. The majority of the students at the University of Skopije had'scholarshipe.
Students received between 2,000 to 30000 dinars per month for room, board
and expenses. Students who had military scholarships2 were given 3,000 to
4,500 dinars per month for room, board and personal expenses.
6. The student mess was located at 9 Eighteenth Street .in Skopi je. Cost of

10. The Secondary Technical School in Skoplje was composed of the following
divisions:
There were only a few Cammnmiats at. Skopl je University. Only five of the
students .In the Chemistry School were members of the Communist Party.

11. A certain Mishee was Director of the Secondary Technical School in Skoplje.
A four year course use offered at this school. In early 1951 approsimately
1,200 students were entolled in the Secondary Technical School. The
majority of students had scholarships and each one of them received 1,700
to 3,500 dinars a month for room, board and other expenses.

The students take courses in mathematics, chemistry, et cetera in order
to prepare themselves for teaching.

technicians. In some cases, students are sent to universities for
training and in other cases, they are sent to factories for a period of
apprenticeship. In either case, after completion of the training period,
the student is required to serve for several years with the military,
either in a military unit or b,& military industrial enterprise.
