Democracia P ar,' Conmunist newspaper in Rio de Janeiro, was founded
in July 1950 by the Communist Party of Brazil (PCB) as a possible sub-
stitute for the PCB Rio daily, Imnrensa nul.ar, in the event that the
latter s h o u l d be closed b y Brazilian authorities. D
made its first appearance in August 1950 and has continued to be published
at irregular intervals. Its offices, originally located at Rua do Carmo
%, were recently moved to Avenida Rio Branco #257, Room 1712, thereby
eliminating an extra office and bringing the paper into closer contact
with other Party propaganda and publishing activities, which are directed
from the same address. Dcscta Poudla is directed by Jose Zacarias
