LIN Piao, who will take command of the North3ast in the
event of war there, went to Mukden to plan the over-all defense of that
area. At the same time LIN brought to Manchuria two mechanized div5oxi -HUM
the armies of the 13 Army Group, 4 Field Army, which
were in South China had finished regrouping and were soon to
be transferred to Manchuria. ''(..division of the 42 Army had already
arrived in Chian (126-10, 41-07). The original designation of this unit
was the 124 Division; the newly assigned substitute designation was un-
known.
