New Screening of Reserve Officers and NCOs
to Since July 1951 reserve officers and NCOs have been undergoing
a new scr?eening, Reservists are notified to report to their
District Military Command, allegedly for a r=eexaminatiorn of
military and personal documents, the issuance of new military
books containing the, photograph 'of the bearer undergoing a
new medical examinationsand taking measurements for,
or new azniforms,
The real purpose of the screening. however, Is to determine the
degree of political reliability of each man and to reassign him
accordingly.
2:_. The reservist is notified to bring with him to the District
Military Command six photograrhs 3.5 x 3.5 cm, (photographed
in civilian clothes without a hat,, size of face 2 cm ),:Without

Personalia of wife children,, parents and relatives (of
reservist and wife)
Certificate of blood group
in addition,, the reservist must know what size shoes he takes
his head Size, collar size and waist size for the Issuance of

The screening notification is a valid excuse for absence from
work on the indicated date. Expenses incurred In traveling
to and from the District Military Command offices wi l not be
defrayed by the Military Administration. If the appointment
cannot be kept, the fact must be reported to the District
Command immediately,, along with a valid certification (medical
or otherwise). In such emergencies. the reservist in question
will be excused and called later. the screening Is expected to
last until. September 1951.

received appeals from the County Military Command 4; Prague F to
volunteer for active service., However, the appeals received
only slight response. During the am ual training exercises,
pressure was applied to reservists and officers were threatened
with the loss of their rank if they did not join the active ser-
viceo Doctors in particular are in demand and even specialists
are not excluded from this "voluntary recruiting" For example.,
a gynecologist, age 37, was called up for further active service.

5r Conscripts born in 1929, 1930 and even some of the class of 1931
who were conscripted in the string of 1951 are now being called
to military service. They are notified by card and not by
public notices.
