THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION 50X1-HUM 1. The construction of the Vames landing field was started in early 1950. Its official designation is A.S.A.M. (Aerodrom Sacrificiu Aviatia Militar - Sacrificial Aerodrome Military Aviation) Vames Station. It is a subsidiary of A.S.A.M. Center No. 1 Galati Region. This location had been used by the Germans as a tank and armor park. The ground had been levelled and rolled. 3. There are no runways; the surface consists of rolled sand and gravel. No flying formations are stationed on the landing ground. The installations are used for minor repairs on aircraft. There are 26 men permanently employed in the repair shops; when required additional personnel are sent from A.S.A.M. Galati Center. 4. The location of the landing ground is shown on the attached sketch labelled Appendix A. 5. The installations of the landing groundwe described by the numbers below which correspond to the numbers on the attached sketch B: a. Road Galati - Tecuci b. Railroad line Galati - Tecuci at about 20 meters from the landing ground perimeter fences. c. Northern perimeter fence composed of concrete pillars and wooden planking about four meters high. d.
