1. The Rumanian crude oil production has recently increased following the
successful dtrillings to a depth of 1200 - 1700 meters. The newly
developed oil fields in the Moinesti region are yielding about 190 carloa(is
daily. The Steaua Romenamil refinery located in this area will have a
new cracking plant. The drillings in the Boldesti region about 20 kilometers
from Ploesti have shown promising results. Sovrompetrol controls the entire
oil production, procures equipment and brings in specialists from the USSR.

3. The 1 May factory in Ploesti has started producing oscillating pressure
roller bearings for hydraulic heads of 150 tons for use in the oil industry,.
k ~ The Sovrom Metal factory has for the first time produce'i a steam turbine with
a 3,000 kilowatt output at 3,000 rpm. The steam temperature is 400 degrees
Centigrade and the pressure 32 atmospheres.
5. Of the five Siemi_ns - Martin furnaces envisaTLd under the five-year plan,
one has been com leted at the Progresul Metal factory in Braila and is now
in operation.
