This vessel put out for an unknown destination on 11 July 1951. She has
not returned.
8. r Fleet Tender "!IA.UT 1POU"
and is receiving a fresh coat of paint.
This former German Type 16 minesweeper is still having her engines overhauled
9. S.S. "EitrS' N"
This vessel was formerly reported as a tanker, owing to her shape, It
now appears that she is a cable-laying vessel with an opening for cable-
laying on the starboard side of her stern.
b. She put out for a trial run from 11 - 13 July 1951. According to one
of the fitters working on board, this trial run was satisfactory and
she achieved a maximum speed of 10.4 knots.
10a S.S. "SAAR" -
a, This former German submarine mother ship (Begleitschiff) of approximately
3000 33RT was towed into the harbor on 12 July. She has not yet, been
floated into the Werft. t A
\ b. A dockyard employee who went on board to repair one of her pumps said
that she was in . very regleowd state , having suffered much darzage
from rust. Her engines are not in working condition and she has been
badly damaged on the port side towards the stern., apparently having been
hit by a torpedo or mine. The damage, ' caused several years ago.,
was temporarily patched up recently. The vessel is fitted with three
guns of an estimated 10.5 cm calibre. These guns are mostly nested
over and on two of them the breech blocks (Verschlusce) more missing.
The vessel is manned by to Russian officers and 1! son-coamaissiox d
officers. Her pumps work continually$ owing to the amount of water
she is shipping. These pumps are run from a small diesel engine of
approximately 100 hp.
co As yet no repair work has comrlencecl on this vessel.
