The barracks buill.ngs facing the street ,;ere surrounded by an iron fence. Several T-34 tanks .!with guns projectin, far beyond the nose and without muzzle brakes were seen near the open garages. The tanks were marked with white three-digit numbers and the Polish Eagle emblem on either side of the turret. the sol,?iers observed in the installation wore steel-fir.=ay uniforms with open collars, black pentagonal collar p?~tches, and black-bordered steel-gray caps with a black ribbon and black pipings on the upper cap brim. Several soldiers were engaged in repair work on the tanks. * 2? The southern section of the former Artillerieraserne on the southwestern perimeter of nalbenciorf (1' 51/J 17) quartered an artillery unit and the northern section -an infantry an3 t. Source believed that the troops were absent frog the post. However, the installation was guarded and a Polish cabman also stated that the barracks '+nstallation was occupied. 'No troops were seen on the drill field west of the installation, ,,:!here fire trenches had been dug. * 3. An installation of four or five 5-story warehouses guarded by military personnel was located just northwest of the cemetery vest of TIalh-iendorf, =1 railroad spur led to the installation. 4. The Polish district office for Public Safety was housed in the former post office just northwest of the r:1ain railroad. station. Numerous i::B 1 (Corps of Internal Security) troops -.were seen in the streets.
