1, YEN Ying, 35, a native of Chinehiang, Fukien Province, and a prewar member
of the Chinese Communist Party in the Philippines, may now be one of the
leading Chinese Communists in the country. YEN is the proprietor of GAN's
PI,ote Engraving and Printing Press (Hai Yen Chih Pe Yin Wu Kung Ssu,
110/4- 4 ), 517-554 Jabonerae Street, Manila, where
Chinese Communist propapanda materials are reproduced.
2. The premises of YEN's firm are frequented by persons who have no apparent
connection with the printing business, Some of these persons are former
members of the Hua Chi (iha Ch1 )1 wartime Chinese guerrilla organization
in the Philippines, who now reside in Mountain Province.
3. While YEN was residing in a in 19374 he joined and became active in
the Lao Kung Lien Ho Hui (4 Il IR/7k 4tr ), a Communist labor organiza-
tion. YEN is believed to have joined the Chinese Communist Party at this
time.
4. SHEN Erh-ch'i -4= )? the Manila representative of the Chinese
Corrnurtst New Fourth Army during 1937, was attracted by YEN'S abilities.?
and he took him to China in 1938. YEN underwent a period of training in
China, probably in Yenan. He returned to the Philippines latejn 1939,?
and he :I.mmediately became active in the Chung Bila 'ring (kt ?).4

5. The ChungYua ring which became known after the war as the Hein Hua Tling
Aft ), was a Chinese Communist Party organ in the Philippines
about bleb little Is known.3 HSU Ching-chgeng (7-t-Nt:ta; ) was director
of this organization and membership included WU Tra-chl;ng )5,,
KUO Chien (lp 10, ), SHEN Erh-ch0i, YANG Ching-t'ung (471y4141 and
LU Chun-chui (sa A 4a. ).4 Except for YEN and LU, all o these persams
have returned to China.
Comment. (August 1951), which summarized the
organisational history and present status of the Chinese Communist
Party in the Philippines, included detailed information on the
Hua Chih.
