1. A leader of the political faction of the Confederacion Naciona. del Trabajo
(CNT) inside Spain expected an increas,, in anti-FJL NCO activity as the result
of an agreement re-ched ;ith fte pub.iic:_n eiements in October 1951. The
informant blamed the -2olicies of the Socialist leader, Trifon GC,'.', San Jose,
for the poor relations between thc CflT and the Socialist. party. According
to
the informant, the Socialists do not wish to enter into n agreement with other
"ti-F,'NCO l rou os on ..n equal basis, but insist on dominating any coalition
in which they participate.
2. The informant stated that he had not last faith in file J.3 in spite of its
recent friendly overtures to the FRi1NCO regime. He did not believe that the
U.S. would oppose democracy in Spain and added th;. t the weakness of opposition
elements lay in their own disunion.
3,, The French government, under pressure fror:i the "J.Danish Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, may ..drder the dissolution of the youth r:movement of the apolitical
faction of the CNT, Juventudes Liberturias. The Sp4nish :overnment reportedly
sent note to the French goverrr:icnt protestint- an incident provoked by the
Juventudes Libartarias in the scaring of 1951 a.ga,inst 4 Falange social function
held in the i'alais de Chaillot in Faris. , however-,25X1 C
