ITS TRANSMISSION OR REVE- LATION OF ITS CONTENTS TO OR RECEIPT BY AN UNAUTHORIZED PERSON IS 1, Before the 1917 revolution, Zavod (Factory) Number 112 at Kuybyshev manu- factured small arms ammunition. From 1917 until 1939 the factory made watches. In 1936 the factory's name was changed to ZIM (Zavod-imeni Maslenikov). In 1948 part of-the plant still produced watches; its other products were unknown. 2, The plant was composed of 26 shops and employed about 181,000 workers in three shifts. The assembly shop was classified secret,, and =-=ktraordinary security precautions were taken for this shop in addition to the security measures for the plant as a whole. A barbed-wire fence isolated the assembly shop from the rest of the plant, 3. The director of the plant,was Beloberodov,, an engineer colonel in the Soviet army, The former director was Radionov. Peisakhovich was in charge of Shop Number 6, During the two-month period that a worker was an apprentice,, he received 285 rubles a month. A beginning worker received 700 rubles a month, while.a worker with two to five years' experience earned 800 to 900 rubles a..month. A Stakhanovite earned about 1,100 rubles a month, The ZIM plant was guarded by male and female guards in civilian clothes, The plant was surrounded by a wooden and stone fence; at the four corners of the yard there were wooden towers manned by MVD troops wearing blue shoulder boards and armed with machine guns. The plant had a railroad siding where steel rods of diameters iip to eight inches were brought in.
