25X1 19 The Radio-Roentgen Zavod (Radio X-ray Factory) at LJis has not been fully
cot-plated. Building of this factory was suspended last winter by order of
the Ministry of National Defense in connection with a plan to transfer the
plant to the interior of Bosnia,
2e The technical staff in the factory consists mostly of German engineers and
technicians. Although there are a small nurber of young Yugoslav engineers
working on the staff, their actual contribution has been nil. The chief
engineer, a Gerran, signed a two-year contract which has now expired;
however, otring to unstable conditions he refused to renew the contract and
expressed the wish to leave the country,1
3, Production plans provided for the ranufacture of the following; types of
radio tubes 617, 6.77, 6SA70 6L6, W. for we by the arned forces; ECH-21,
BL-21, AZ-1, for use by ranufacturers of civilian radio sets.
4. In terms of actual output the factory has thus far only succeeded in
producing the AZ-M1 tube on a limited scale. The other types of tubes are
also being r...uufactured in very limited numbers and production of these is
in the nature of an experiment.
