1. During 1948, a TKZS (Trudovo Kooperativno Zemedelsko Stopanst o; Cooperative
Labor Farm) was formed in Markovo (RF-4492). The TKZS controls approximately
8,000 dekars of the most productive land in the district, including
Piroto, Girena, Zaridivo, Komsala, and part of the Pichkovets area.
2. The Markovo TXZS was formed by exerting great pressure on the local population.
Recalcitrant farmers who did not want to join were beaten and subjected
to other pressures
