Engineer Depot near Pisek.
1, Prior to~28 September 1950, an engineer depot, which had been completed
and stocked in the summer of 1950, was located in the eastern portion
of the woods north of Oldrichov (N 50/Q 69), about 4 km northwest .of.
Pisek (N 50/Q 69).
2. The area of the depot was estimated at about. 400 x 700 meters. It was
surrounded by a double barbed-wire fence) 2 meters high, which was lined
by wire-roll,entariglement. Paralleling the fence on the inside, a distance
of about 2.5 meters from the fence, there was a belt of mines, which could
be set off by touching trip wires. Entrances were on the east side and on
the west side of the installation, with a searchlight at each entrance.
The woods containing the depot was off limits to civilians. There were no
air raid precautionary facilities. The=materiell was stored in seven
camouflaged_bri uildings, each having 8 to 10 rooms. Concrete loading

storage buildings were estimated at 30 x 10 x 8 meters.
3. The depot was assigned to the engineer regiment in Pisek. It was commanded
by Lieutenant Vaclav Skrivan who, during guard instruction, said that the
depot contained stocks to be used only in case of mobilization. It alleged?-
ly was one of the largest engineer depotss.in.Czechoslovakia.

4, Materiel, which was stored there upon completion of the depot, included
engineer explosives, mine. cases and explosive charges for mines of various
types, igniters, blasting caps, hand grenades of various types and small-
arms ammunition. Most of the materiel arrived from the old depot on 50 to
100 trucks of themengineer regiment, In addition# two boxcars with explosives
arrived at the Pisek railroad station.
5.. The old depot, consisting of 2 brick buildings, 5 x 7 x 5 meters, and 5 or
6 small wooden sheds, was located in a patch of woods about 500 meters east
of 01APMd ~i~?~I~~e~8b45ad~~A~Bi~1800~:98,501 were
located between the old and the new depot, contained engineer equipment
and practice mines. The drill ground of the Pisek military post was also

6. The border zone west of Malacky '(P 149/S 82) was about 4 km wide. Prior

to September 1951s a PS unit of more than >0 men was quartered in three
private houses on the east hank of the Morava River, southwest of Suchoh-
.Tad (P 19/S 71). A detail .of 10 to 1$ men was stationed in the Zubel: inn.
