The ore from all the mines, including part of the ore from Konske Doll was
collected at Burueva Reka; and from there the entire. amount was sent by
aerial cable 47 kilometers to the factory of Kurdohali. The capacity of each
of the aerial wagons was one ton, and four hours were required for the wagons
to complete a round trip. Along the aerial cable line there were stations
at Boevo, Strasi Mir, Sveti Georgi, and Fabrika.
The refinery at Kurdzhali was located at the southern ond of the city near
the banks of the Arda River. The refinery consisted of several buildings
surrounded by barbed wire and a wooden fence. Only the factory workers were
permitted to enter the area. There were a considerable number of Soviet
specialists at the factory many of whom were accompanied by their families*
The mines were directed by a Soviet named Kalenko and an unidentified
Bulgarian.
