1. Rumors in the Pirin area indicate large numbers of Soviet troops on the
Turkish border. There are only occasional rumors of Soviet troops on the
Yugoslav bo :,der.
2. There is constant troop movement of small army units from the main Sofia-
Plovdiv rail line down into the Pirin area. These units are camposed of
north Bulgarian troops. There is an unknown infantry battalion from
north Bulgar-la presently in Bansko (QK-4272). There are also units of
unknown size from north Bulgaria in Eleshnitsa (OK 5576). For the first time
troops are quartered in Dobrinishta (OK-4871). These troops, estimated to
be a battalion, are from a north Bulgarian unit.
There is an undetermined artillery unit in Razlog (QK-1179) which has
been conducting field exercises and fire practice since 10 August 1951,
