1. Prier to October 1950, an AAA. regiment with its headquarters and three
battalions was located in the former Vilmos Kaserne on the southwest side
of Robert Karoly Koerut, Budapest. The regiment was a training unit rather
than a line unit, and trained cadre personnel for newly activated AAA units.
Tn the summer of 1950, the regiment was in the Nograd (Q 48/H 57) area to
practice firing at air and moving ground targets. It was equipped with
Soviet-type 40-mm and 85-mm AA Funs and Soviet radio sets. a~
2. In October 1950, the regiment activated an AAA division headquarters with,
25X1 Budapest 72. One AAA regiment in Dunafoeldvar (Y 6/N 3),
another AAA regiment in Banhida (Q 48/Y 94) and a third regiment in the
area between the Danube and Theiss Rivers were subordinate to the headquarters. ;*
A major was commanding officer of the division and Major Kapuy, (fnu), an
ex-officer of the former Hungarian Army, was political officer. Officers of
the division headquarters said that, in case of war, the division would be
assigned to the AA defense of the national territory. Each AAA regiment of
the division was organized into 2 battalions of heavy guns and one battalion
of medium guns, with each battalion consisting of two batteries.
3. Source learned from officers of the division headquarters that an AAA regiment,
stationed in Komarom (P 48/Y 75), also trained cadre personnel for AAA. units
to be activated.
25X1A Comment. The Iriny Daniel Kaserne, which was reported to quarter an
AAA unit with covering No {)318 in early 1951. See Nograd 25X1A
is an AAA range, where AAA units and AA machine g components o ne units
hold target practices The guns mentioned in the present report are probably
Soviet model 39 x 37-mm AA guns and models 39 or 44 x 85-mm AA guns.

officers' club and mess on the east side of Stalin Square, Dunafoeldvar,
