On 24 October, there was no flying at the field except for the landing of eight swept-back jet fighters. (2) An LI-2 type twin- engine low-wing monoplane was observed on 27 October. The :runway had lamps 40 to 50 meters apart. Five lamps, each about 75 cm high 1 lamp about 2.5 meters high and another lamp about 3 meters high lighted the main flying lane. A lou.wooden building with a superstructure, 3 x 6 x 4.5 meters, which was located about 50 meters north of the four masts of the radio installation in Jagen (forest-subarea) 216, was completed. (3) Another wooden hut, about 2.5 x 2.5 x 3 meters, was erected about 50 meters northeast of four masts in Jagen 216. An antenna mast about 10 meters high and with two cross bars on top was next to this hut. (4) Four wires fitted at the four ends or the cross bars extended vertically to the ground. The military installation which consisted of a hospital, storehouse, and troop billets in the Messingwerk (brass plant) in Finow was no longer guarded after 18 October. A Soviet Air Force guard detail of about 50 men was quartered in the cantonment on Biesenthaler Strasse. About one fourth of the restricted area bordered by Post Strasse, Pappel Strasse, and the former Dietrich Eckard Strasse was occupied by air force troops.
