1. The Czechoslovak Army's central storage area for toxic gases including Tabun
is located in Zemianske Kostolany (^ti9/T96). _._ There.is an important chemical
warfare training area at Moravsky Karlov-Cervena Voda (P514749) in Moravia,
Vehicle tires and automotive equipmient -aie stored at Navy Jicin (P50/046).
Many Panzeriaust and anti-tank mines are stored in the Jince (N50/LL6) military
area p*
2. Maneuvers involving training troops in gas attack yore held in the Cervena
Voda area during September and. October 1951., Small - groups, probably through
company level, were seen engaged in offensive gas training including the pro-
jection of gas by means of field artillery aril chemical warfare mortars,,
Ordinary gas masks of Czech and '7ehrmacht design were used. No special filters
or filter canisters are believed to have Seen used. Several Soviet instructors
to lieutenant colonel in rank were present.
3. On 15 October 1951 Czechoslovakia began the mass production of non-a: tallic.
anti-tank and anti personnel land mines with Bakelite coversp**
tt. Underground gasoline storage tanks in the Vrsovice district of Prague include
four tanks of 100,000 liters capacity each and eight tanks of 50,000 liters
capacity each.
5. One model of the newly issued radio sets, type. R F-11$ has two uni.o, each
consisting of a box 18 cm high by 11 cm. by 5 cm, The front unit is a trans-
ceiver; the rear unit is a battery pcimr pack. Both are on a belt 5 cm wide,
The radio has no visible antenna. The transceiver tuning knob is graduated
from 1 to 30; each click permits a change of 0.25 megacycles. The radio has
headphones and a hand microphone attached. It has a range of approximately
5 km, is crystal controlled and operates on frequency mr,dulation. This model
is probably intended for infantry units. Other models of the ?F-ll'class
are reported to be built for ecrirnunicat on between arnored vehicles. 50X1-HUM

6, The Czechoslovak Ministry of National Defense will order all civilian doctors
to take a special six week military medical course stressing military aspects
of various surgical, disease and sanitation problems,
7, In November 1951 the Karlin barracks in Prague received several hundred
deliveries of mobile field kitchens and large deliveries of boots and field
packs,
8. Czech army unit headquarters of unknown designation and strength are located
in the following citiess one tank regiment at Podborany (N51/L09); one infantry
regiment each at Cheb and Karlovy Vary; two infantry regiments at Tepla
(N50/P66); two artillery regiments at Sokolov (N5l/P58); one engineer battalion
each at Karlovy Vary and Kadan (N51/K91).
9. The Czechoslovak Army q.uatemacter has received orders to be prepared to assume
control of all food stores and distribution units in the event of a war emer-
gency. Plans have not yet been completed for the change-over.
100 A forced labor center has been begun in the Llinon area (051/F95). A special
recruiting drive was held from 15 November to 15'Decenber 1951 ,for groups to
begin the construction and manning of the center, The Czech array has provided
special recruiting commissions which, on the basis of Czech defense legislation,,
examine personnel for military service, but process them for labor at the
camp, Labor terms are from two to three years. To date mostly small business-
men.,,small farmers and individuals physically or politically unfit for military
service have been assigned to this camp for work on military and other govern-
ment projects, The t1imon workers are isolated, and must send mail through
camp censor ehLp and receive mail through the Czech Army field post system.,,
Comment: The Panzerfaust has been reported as the P-1 Prekop weapon., wrrLian is a sma]1 recoilless cannon, similar to the bazookas It is believed 50X1-HUM
that this weapon has an effect at a distance of 1,000 meters equal to that
of an O0-mm gun, It is being produced at the Zbrojovka-Brno plant in Vsetin
(P50/033) 9
