1. Reportedly, the normal depth of the bar at Sulina is 23 feet, allowing ships
with 22 feet draft to pass through. However, with favorable weather and at
high tide, it is possible to enter the Sulina channel with a draft of 24 feet.
Pilots who have gone through the Chilia channel lately state that this channel
now has a depth of 18 feet. The channel is being constantly dredged.
