1. An aviation fuel storage depotlis reportedly situated some 600 to 700 meters
northwest of the Vitanovic railroad station in Caoak, and approximately five
kilometers northeast of the bridge which crosses the Zapadna Morava River.
The stated fuel storage depot was allegedly built into the southern slope of
an unspecified hill. The depot can reportedly be approached via the Kraljevo-
Kragujevao road, which runs parallel to the Kraljevo-Kragujevac railroad
line. The fuel depot is purported to be approximately 25 meters wide, 70
meters deep and to be covered with a layer of earth some 10. centimeters in
thickness. Seven or eight ventilation shafts, each having a diameter of
about 25 centimeters, were reported to project above the layer of earth.
There was no evidence of an electric line leading into the depot; however,
two gasoline-operated generators used for pumping purposes, Yrere reportedly
observed.
2. The fuel storage depot, which allegedly has a capacity of 3,000 to 4,000 tons
of aviation gasoline kept in an unspecified number of tanks, reportedly
stores fuel for the Kraljevo (Rankovioevo) Airfield. This reserve fuel was
purportedly part of the supplies delivered by the Western Allies to Trieste
during 1948.
3. According to data furnished by informant, the fuel storage depot was strictly
guarded by a detail of one commissioned officer, 30 noncommissioned officers
and enlisted men, reported to be assigned officially to the Kraljevo
(Rankovicevo) Airfield. Uniformed auxiliary guards were allegedly furnished
by the Kraljevo Airfield. The fuel depot is surrounded by a barbed-wire
fence two and one half meters high, with guard post watohtcrrers located at
each corner. Approximately 100 meters of the outer enclosed area were
restricted. Guards were posted at the outside entrance and at the top of
each watchtower. Two patrols with watchdogs were also on duty during the
time informant visited the area. Informant did not observe any antiaircraft
battery emplacements in the vicinity.
