THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
1. The present strength of the Hungarian State Railways staff is about 100,000.
This figure includes all officials, engineers and railway men.
2. One third of the trainees enrolled in the one year course for H.S.R. (Hungarian
State Railway) officials, which ended in August 1951, were women,
3. A total of 10,000 women are to be employed by the H.S.R. because of Ger8's
recent order stating that many male employees will be drafted into industry.
Also, the railway employees are not exempt from military call-up,
I&. Previously females were only employed as cashiers and telephone and telegraph
operators, Women now entering the H.S.R. are low-grade labor. They are employed
as engine-drivers, stokers, clerks, conductors, and on railway maintenance gangs.
