The civilian airfield, about 6,600-foot square, was about 10 miles from the town center of LENINGRAD, Leningrad Oblast, west of the road to KRASNOGWARDEISK, north of the Pulkovo Hills and about a mile southwest of a double overpass crossing the main road. There was an E-,,' runway, about 160x5,000 feet. Concrete parking sites and approach roads, a large flight control station,?repair shops, etc., were also available. 2. Boundary lights of the runway: A single insulated electric about -inc d the 40 mm in diameter, without armor, was being laid in a 32 l , J, LA runway. Connections branched off from the cable at intervals of about 130 feet. The lamps were not connected. For night take-offs red and green lamps had been installed in a makeshift way. 3. The airfield personnel, excluding the administration in the Aeroport building, numbered about 40 civilians. 4. The airfield was permanently occupied by 10 to 12 twin-engine commer- cial planes, some of which had a nose wheel.
