These Air Force men worked exclusively at hewing two types of lumber from trees which they felled: boards about two meters long, resembling railroad ties in size and shape; and beams about five or six meters long, 35 to 40 centimeters thick, and 35 to 40 centimeters wide. Neither of these two types of lumber were oiled, tarred, or processed in auy other manner. - Nobody but Air Force personnel worked at hewing these types of lumber. 3? Soviet Air Force personnel came to the lumber yard daily in trucks to haul away the lumber described above. The lumber was taken to Soviet airfields in Lithuania, including Panevezys and Zokne.
