2d Another airfield was 8 to 10 km south of the
town, north of the small town called ..:akhach.

(single-seat, one in-line engine, retractable
landing gear and tail wheel). The planes made

from U-2s and cargo gliders towed by U--2s0
11. The i aprovised airfield, about 1,000 meters square,
was 18 to 20 krm southwest of .4hrthachkala, east of
the railroad line to L.:aku.and south of a railroad
branch line to the 'osgorod (Kaspik) industrial
installation. A shed was the only building.

Gliders were towed to an altitude of 1,000 mete. -s

(particularly loops) and then landed.
