Parachute jumps from U-2s over the training field were seen, 3 The airfield was south of Jakhachka.la9 half way to the torpedo plant (about les kn,) and west of the asphalt road to Baku. There were no buildings except for some small barracks. l ,,o runways, taxi- ways, railroad spurs or fuel dumps were seen. The airfield north of .Aakhachkal.a had destroyed hangars, some of which have been under recono struction since 1948. 8. :'lying. at the field intensified, every year. The i aprovised airfield, about 1,000 meters square, was 18 to 20 krm southwest of .4hrthachkala, east of the railroad line to L.:aku.and south of a railroad branch line to the 'osgorod (Kaspik) industrial installation.
