1. On 3 December 1951, about 120 Soviet troops wear t.ng red-bordered
black epaulets were engaged in drill and practice with rifles
and Tiaxim heavy machine guns at the former federal educational
establishment in Traiskirchen (0 49, }: 7) . Six ;AT Mans and 34
motor vehicles were parked near the v icle sheds- The vehii~lssq
included trucks
were seen in the park of Tribusw inkel (0 49/1L 36) Castle. Lleven
officers, including four majors, and all wearing black service
color, were seen entering or le:avLng the r!uartr rs.
On 7 December, two groups of 20 officers each, with most of them
wearing red-bordered black epauleta and some wearing black-bordered
red epaulets were seen in front of the former Flak Kasorne i^
Baden (0 49/ 37), apparently engaged in a map reconnaissance5OX1-HUM
exercise, since they all carried imp pouches. Imprints of caterpillar
tracks were noticed on the road passing the installation although
no armored veriicles were seen inside the billeting area. OOnly' 9.

epaulets with artillery insignia left the quarters. In unusually
