1. In the fall of 1951 a Hungarian military camp was constructed just west of
the Kom&rom-Budapest railroad line, several kilometers north of Tata-Tbvdros.
The camp is fenced in with barbed wire, and consists of a number of three-story
buildings. A new road has been built from Tata and Tdvdros to the camp, About
the middle of November 1951 some l0 tanks were seen at the camp,
2, Several large barracks were constructed during the summer of 195i near Vac.
A large underground ammunition depot was being built into the side of a near-by
hill,
3. An underground ammunition magazine, was seen at
Komironl in December 1951. It is located between the old railroad bridge and
the Monostor Barracks, The side facing the Danube is 500-600 meters long, and
is bounded by three barbed-wire fences. There are several observation towers,
with spotlights which are turned on at night. The installation is guarded by
Soviet soldiers.

6. It is alleged that in July 1951 the members of an AVH training unit, most of
whom had been conscripted late in 1950, were shipped to an area (not precisely
identified) on the Hungarian-Rumanian border to quell a peasant revolt. The
AVH soldiers were ordered to strike the peasants, and in some cases to soot
them. Several men who refused to carry out these orders were shot on the
spot by the political officers as "enemies of the people". Other men deserted,
committed suicide, or were arrested, The remainder of the unit returned to
Budapest in September,
