The plant area is 2#xl miles, and is surrounded by a board fence. The blast furnace plant with two furnaces in operation and two more under construction was farthest west. To its north was the onon-hearth plant built by German P.+s in 1945. The power plant, which was expected eventually to supply the entire plant was still under construction. The newly construc- ted sheet-metal mill was operating to capacity. The main de- partment is the "itelsobalken" rail and girder mill, composed of four large workshops in one block. The der.artment had a long; train of rollers, composed of seve al sets of rollers set side by side. foundations for large :lachines were under construction in another section of this department. The third section was not yet equipped, the fourth was a mechanical shop for the construc- tion of the plant, a brick and steel structure. b. Although this renort does not furnish a clear picture of the ?o p of iron and steel plants northwest of .Dii1XP1OPJ. ;'hOV6 it is useful in several respects. (1) The statement regarding the location of the Petrovka. Plant, south of the road and railroad line to DNEPRODZ. u. ii.val~$ a revs with previous information. y lthouph no factory is shown there on the military town plan of DN:c:P.KOF;;:ThOV5K of uovernber 11241, an aerial i hoto~,:raph taken in 1943 clearly shows industrial installations there. The attached layout sketch corresponds rou;;hly with a raw sketch attached to a :previous report (2) The date. on the Relsobalkan Plant is of particular in- terest., 1~ocordin,C to source,, it is part of the Petrovka Plant, although other sources believed it to be an independent plant., The available data on the location of this plant-' do not entire agree. It seems certain from this report that the Relsobalkan Plan' (contrary to previous rerorts) is not immediately east of iihe '.Molotov Pla,ut, which is north of the railroad line (3) The "automobile plant" retorted to be north of the rail- road line Is undoubtedly the ,Iol,:tov Plant, on which several - recortsl have been received. According- to other sources, hoist in ? quirrlent and truck mountings are PrO&Ced there,, which may have led source to believe an automobile factory was there., b0 it is known from other sources that one:' of the largest iron ern" Steel slant of European ,%ussla is in DIvL1'ROPETROVSK. flue location of this plant, called 11_..1etallurgioheski Z,avod Petr'Ovski'o, had not previously been known. The size of this plant` and. the name Petrovski make it seen possible that all iron plants in the area northwest of Dl Za'AGPETROV K, the ..... lotov, iielso al'kan, and Petrovka, 11lantsp are mart of this large Petr vskt 11ant, which is still being expanded. i ecause of its relati iely small size, the Petr. ov1 a Olant cannot be this 1etrov$XI Plant. c, `urther information is required for an accurate picture of the situation and for the locations of these various plants& 1 Anryex Petrovka i,lant in DN1 1>rtOl E".r'L OV,,3K 25X1 co FII?ENT".
