Loo2tion The Oka chemical plant in Dzerzhinsk-Igumnovo (44?38'E/ 56ol41N), Gorki Oblast', is south of the Gorki railroad line between the power plant and the Stroy chemical plant. The original installations,which existed during the war, did not suffer any damage. A new foundry was completed in August 1948. The excavation work for two new concrete buil- dings was started in November 1943 and the bare brickwork completed by April 1949. The old foundry the machinery of which had been removed in 1948, was raze. in 1949. A rail- road spur track is available. Electricity is supplied from the neighboring power plant. That sketch gave a probably true picture of the relative locations of the different Dzerzhinsk-Ioumnovo chemical plants. For comparison it is. attached as Annex 2. The Stroy chemical plant, west of the Oka plant and men- tioned by the previous source, is Chemical Plant T? o. 96. The plant layout as given in Annex 1 cannot be judged. The workers wore rubber clothing and protective glasses, 3 Irrigation works, concrete structure, 15 x 10 x 6 meters, with a pipe coil system of 3-cm pipes on the roof. This system is the same height as the building and is presum- ably sprayed with water. There is the smell of ammonia. 4. Unidentified concrete building, 20 x 15 x 6 meters, through the windows of which measuring instrumants were seen and noise of machines was heard. Concrete building, A penetrative ammonia smell surrounded this building; the :;porkers wore rubber protective clothing. The building was connected by pipe lines with the irriga- tion works and the spirits plant. 6 Spirits plant, concrete building, 15 x 10-x 6 meters; tank cars,were frequently observed on the neighboring track. Ninety-eight percent spirits was distributed to the PW~'s several times.
