In early November the 4 Marine Division, commended by CHANG Fu (& 'r )
former commander of the gunboat KLT0 KAN (f;_ k),, was established at
Yulin with a strength of 8000 men? Approximately 20,000 men ' in train-
ing at. Saraya and Ha jk ft ou (110-20, 20-03) will be formed Into the 1, 2,, and
3 Marine Divisions. Two thousand cadets training at the 4 Branch Naval
Acadezrr in Yulin will become officers in these divisions.
5. On.3 November, 12 Soviet amphibious planes, 3 of which were twin-engined
and 9 czingle n/;i.ned,, arrived in Yulin from Amoy. On 23 NNoverber these

South China Navy, These planes were to be flown by Soviet pilots who
are afro instructors at the Yulin Naval Academy.
