A census taken under the direction of KIM Yu-song, chairman of the Yong-
gang-gun (125-13, 38-54) (xD-9208) people's committee, in November 1951,
showed that the population of Yonggang-gunwas 8,069 persons. Of this
number, 46,503, or about 55 percent, were female, and 37,566 were male.
Only about three percent, or 1,233, of the men were between the ages of
21 and 30, and about eight percent, or 2,938, of the men were between
the ages of 31 and 40. 'T'here were 13,778 males between the ages of one
and ten, and 9,783 between the ages of 11 and 20 e In contrast to these
figures, half the female population was between 11 and 40 years of age.
In November 1951 a census taken under the direction of PAR In-ho i..
chairman of the S*6hwa-myon (125-16, 38-55) (XD-9610), Yonggang.mg .n, people's
committee., found that the population of Sohwa-myon was 6,061, persons, of
which number 92 were men between the ages of 21 and 30, There were 733
Labor Party members in Sohwa-myon, about 60 percent of them men; KIM Yun-o
was chairman of the party. Residents of Sohwa-rayon were engaged in various
occupations or could be classified otherwise as follows.
